I specialise in employment and discrimination law and have spent my entire legal career in leading employment law teams. I work closely with clients to understand their commercial and practical needs and always aim to give cost effective and clear advice.
My work includes advising employers and individuals on all aspects of the employment relationship: Employment Tribunal claims, disciplinaries and grievances, incentives, negotiations before and during employment, restrictive covenants, dismissal, settlement agreements, discrimination, flexible working, off-payroll working, restructures and TUPE, data protection, data subject access requests, working time and holiday pay.
I have experience dealing with large scale litigation in the Employment Tribunal and civil courts.
I regularly advise on discrimination issues including discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability and age. This can involve identifying potential risks for a company at an early stage and advising on ways for the company to minimise these risks or providing advice and support to companies or individuals if claims arise.
I advise public and private sector employers on employee relations, including engagement mechanisms, pay negotiations, trade union recognition and industrial action. I have acted successfully in relation to applications for injunctions to prevent strike action.
I have experience in achieving successful outcomes for clients in very large scale litigation in the Employment Tribunal, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court and in negotiations to achieve favourable and cost-effective outcomes for clients.
As part of Clarkslegal’s strategic support to UK employers, I am a member of the UK delegation to the International Labour Organisation: representing UK business interests on cross-jurisdiction employment matters, international labour standards and supply chain governance.
I regularly advise on exit packages and restrictive covenants. I have successfully acted for senior executives with high value claims in the Employment Tribunal and High Court.
I have extensive experience in advising both companies and individuals on the terms and effect of settlement agreements, and in negotiating to obtain more beneficial settlement terms for my clients.
