Louise is an experienced associate in the employment team and advises both companies and individuals on a wide range of employment law matters from complex disciplinary issues to transfers under the Transfer of Undertaking Regulations (TUPE) and restructures.
Louise advises companies of all sizes on the practical and commercial aspects of any TUPE process including business reorganisations and redundancies, tribunal claims, and industrial and employee relations. She has supported her clients though complex multiple claims relating to holiday pay, national minimum wage claims and equal pay.
She has extensive experience advising both companies and individuals on disciplinary and grievance, settlement agreements, unfair dismissal and discrimination, including leading successful mediations.
She led the charge on IR35 and worker status advice and has significant experience to help companies manage their contractual arrangements with their workforce.
Louise’s expert knowledge allows her to offer training to clients on all aspects of employment law.
Louise provides advice to companies and individuals on disciplinary and grievance procedures, sickness absence, redundancies, restructures, procedures for consultation and the election of employee representatives, breach of contract issues, post-termination restrictions and data access requests.
TUPE and outsourcing
Provides strategic advice on negotiations should any dispute arise and support clients in mitigating the risks associated with TUPE which may include drafting warranties and indemnities in commercial agreements and assisting with tri-partite settlement agreements.
Louise supports companies in both preventing and reacting to unfair dismissal. On the preventative side, she can provide clear advice, training on procedures and assist with drafting correspondence and negotiating settlement terms.
She can provide assistance with all aspects of the employment tribunal process from drafting a defense to representing the company at the tribunal. She also advises individuals on their rights and any potential unfair dismissal claim and with employment tribunal claims and settlement agreements for individuals.
Discrimination and harassment
She regularly advises on discrimination issues including discrimination on the grounds of age, sex, disability and maternity. This can involve identifying potential risks for a company at an early stage and training for the company to mitigate these risks or advice and support to companies or individuals if claims arise.
Advising both companies and individuals on the terms and effect of settlement agreements and negotiating with other solicitors, ACAS, companies and individuals to obtain more beneficial settlement terms.
Louise advises companies on employee engagement issues including setting up employee forums, union recognition and management of actual or anticipated employee relations issues.
