According to recent statistics published by Grazia Magazine, 1 in 3 women now earn more than their partners and are considered the main breadwinner in their family. A further 19% earn the same salary as their partner. There has also been an increase in the number of "House Husbands". 1 in 10 male partners now apparently stays home to look after the kids whilst the woman goes out to work. The magazine surveyed 2000 readers for its Women and Work 2010 survey.
Employers should make sure that applications for flexible working are treated just as seriously when made by male employees as when they are made by women.
