No reasonable prospects of success for "dunking" dismissal employees?

Former employees of Woburn Abbey Country House are bringing unfair dismissal claims against Bedford Estates who own the property.

The employees were sacked after a video of them picking up a chef who was leaving employment and dunking him into a sink full of water and throwing a cheesecake at his head was posted on Facebook and seen by their bosses. The alleged perpetrators were initially suspended whilst an investigation took place and were subsequently dismissed.

The Chef is reported to be on the side of the dismissed employees, stating "It was a joke. It`s hard to describe because we had our laughs in the kitchen and then our serious moments. When I found out I cried because the staff had done so much for me."

A spokesman for Bedford Estates is reported in the Telegraph as saying: "With regard to the unfair dismissal cases currently at pre-hearing review, the Bedford Estate wishes to make it clear that it strongly refutes all the allegations of unfair dismissal and maintains it acted in line with company procedures.

If the Tribunal agree that the complaints are unfounded it is likely that the claims will be struck out or the Claimant`s will be required to pay a deposit to the Tribunal in order to continue with their claims.
