Construction Law Update - December 2016

JCT have just updated their Intermediate suite of building contracts, to include easier payment and more flexible insurance provisions, following on previous updates to their Design and Build and Standard Building Contracts. Please let the specialist construction team at Clarkslegal know if you would like a summary guide on the key changes to these contracts, with further updates to the remaining JCT Contracts expected in 2017.

The NEC has published an alliancing code of practice for use with NEC3 contracts, including the Engineering and Construction Contract and Professional Services Contract: Download the PDF here.

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) is shifting its focus to concentrate on three areas:

• Digital technology, using techniques such as building information modeling (BIM);

• Increasing productivity through the use of off-site manufacture;

• Whole-life performance, improving the long-term performance of built assets;

These changes follow on from the CLC's reorganisation in 2015 and are aimed at achieving the efficiency improvements demanded by the government's 2025 industrial strategy.

I recently attended a briefing by the built environment specialists BSRIA on well-being in the office and thought you might be interested to see the link to their free guide.
