04 March 2013 #Clarkslegal
On Sunday 3rd March Clarkslegal hosted an afternoon tea party to support the local elderly community, on behalf of our nominated charity Contact the Elderly.
Contact the Elderly is the only national charity solely dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people. The tea parties are organised by the charity for people over 75 who live with little or no social support.
Volunteers from Clarkslegal’s Reading office worked together to arrange the tea party, contributing homemade sweet and savoury treats, hiring a specialist musician for the afternoon and even organising a game or two of bingo for the guests.
Suzan Hyland, National Volunteer Support Officer for the charity, said, “The Contact the Elderly members were delighted to be invited by Clarkslegal staff to a tea party at their offices. It was a rare opportunity for our elderly guests to socialise within the local business community and thoroughly enjoyed by all!”
Stephen James, who is a Partner at Clarkslegal and Head of the Charity Committee at the firm, added: “We are delighted to be working with Contact the Elderly during our Centenary year. To mark the Centenary we are giving 100 days of staff time to support local good causes. We also have a full programme of events lined up for the year and look forward to celebrating across our offices in London, Reading and Cardiff.”
