The 2011/2012 employment tribunal statistics have been published.
The key findings are below:
- Employment Tribunals (ET) received an overall total of 186,300 claims during 2011-12, a 15% fall compared to last year. When compared with the 2010-11 data, there were falls both in single and multiple claims of 2% and 19% respectively.
- The number of jurisdictional complaints was 321,800 in 2011-12, meaning that there were on average 1.73 jurisdictional complaints per claim.
- There were 110,800 disposals during 2011-12, which was 10% fewer than in the previous year. Falls were seen in both single and multiple claims, of 6% and 14% respectively.
- Between 2010-11 and 2011-12, there was a fall in the caseload outstanding for single claims of 7%, continuing a downward trend seen since 2009-10.
