Sonning Cricket Club, who Clarkslegal proudly sponsor this season were invited by the BBC to make a TV programme with former Ashes hero Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff. The programme focuses on the impact of weather on sport and filming took place on 21 June.
Chairman Ali Driver was delighted to report that the BBC chose Sonning "partly because our excellent website showed them what a successful and friendly club we are, and also because other clubs in the area, whom they also approached, specifically recommended us! "Freddie" was there all day, and must have signed a hundred autographs, bats and shirts in between filming stints."
The programme will be aired by the BBC on the 13th July, from 7.30 till 8.30. Also on Wednesday 13th July, the MCC are honouring Sonning with a game. This is the first time in 35 years that the MCC have played at Sonning and is in recognition of the great strides they have made both in setting up junior section of 100+ youngsters and in moving up to the higher echelons of amateur cricket in the Thames Valley.
Sonning CC would like to welcome as many spectators as possible to come along to King George`s Field and support them versus the MCC on July 13th. The match starts at 11.30 and will, weather permitting, last until around 7.00 in the evening.
