15 July 2010 #Employment
In case you have been asleep (or cannot keep up with when the government is going to implement the Act!) - the Equality Act is the next key legislative change in Employment law - it begins to become law in October 2010.
As a result of the Act, employers may need to review and change their policies and practices on equal opportunities.
Acas have helpfully, in conjunction with the Government Equalities Office and the Equality and Human Rights Commission, published a "Quick Start" guide for Employers on the Equality Act 2010. The guide can be found and downloaded at:
http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3017
The guidance covers changes coming into effect through the Act and details how employers can reassess and align their practices to remain compliant.
There is also a helpful link to a (coloured!) table on the website which shows the key changes.
