The recent wave of updated industry standard contracts may seem hard to keep up with at times, but we continue to post regular updates to help you keep on top of things. The latest addition is the new ACE Professional Services Agreement 2017, and here we take a brief look at what you need to know.
Previous iterations of the ACE Agreement have proven popular in the appointment of professional consultants, and a focus on user-friendliness appears to have been a significant factor in the decision to launch an update of the professional services agreement. This release aims to streamline ACE’s approach to the professional services agreement, creating a singular form which can be used by either project owners or their contractors, and doing away with the need to use a different version of the form in Scotland.
The feel of the Professional Services Agreement should be rather different, with numerous changes to wording and layout intended to make for a smoother user experience. A guidance note should assist users with the transition from the old form, and an updated sub-consultancy agreement and Schedules of Services accompany the release.
For now, only a paper copy has been launched, but we are expecting to see the release of a digital version shortly. We hope to publish further analysis in the coming months, and if you would like to review our comments on any of the other contract releases of late, then feel free to review our construction legal updates here.
