Employers must consider whether Jobcentre vacancies can be advertised as available for flexible or part-time working

The Government has released its response to the Family Friendly Taskforce report, which was published last month, noting that employers need more help realising the benefits  of flexible working to their business.

Changes are to be introduced to the I.T. systems used by Jobcentre Plus, which will mean that, each time a new vacancy is placed on the system, the employer will automatically be asked if the role can be delievered on a flexible basis.

New Cabinet Office guidance means that all jobs being advertised will be presumed as available for flexible or part-time working unless there is a good business case why this is not possible.

Ministers will promote flexible working across the public sector. In addition, the government will appoint a taskforce of business leaders and employers groups to promote flexible working in the private sector.
