Draft guidance on Agency Workers Regulations published

05 April 2011 #Employment

Guidance on the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 has been issued by the Government. This can be accessed at http://www.bis.gov.uk/assets/biscore/employment-matters/docs/a/11-830-agency-workers-regulations-guidance.pdf.

The regulations are to come into force on 1 October 2011 and consultation on the regulations closes shortly on 15 April. The final regulations are expected at the end of April 2011.

The Government intends the guidance on the equal treatment for agency workers to help employers and the recruitment sector to understand and implement the Regulations effectively.

In summary the regulations gives agency workers the entitlement to the same or no less favourable treatment for basic employment and working conditions, if they complete a qualifying period of 12 weeks in a particular job. Further details are outlined in the regulations and guidance.
